Thermography (Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging)

 What is DITI?

DITI is a 15 minute non invasive test of physiology. It is a valuable procedure for alerting your doctor to changes that can indicate early stage breast disease.

The benefit of DITI testing is that it offers the opportunity of earlier detection of breast disease than has been possible through breast self examination, doctor examination or mammography alone.

DITI detects the subtle physiologic changes that accompany breast pathology, whether it is cancer, fibrocystic disease, an infection or a vascular disease. Your doctor can then plan accordingly and lay out a careful program to further diagnose and /or MONITOR you during and after any treatment.

Procedure

  • Non invasive
  • No radiation
  • Painless
  • No contact with the body
  • FDA aproved

This quick and easy test starts with your medical
history being taken before you partially disrobe for the scanning to be performed. This first session provides the baseline of your “thermal signature”.

A subsequent session assures that the patterns remain unchanged. All of your thermograms (breast images) are kept on record and once your stable thermalpattern has been established any changes can be detected during your routine annual studies

Who?

All women can benefit from DITI breast screening. However, it is especially appropriate for younger women (30 - 50) whose denser breast tissue makes it more difficult for mammography to be effective. Also for women of all ages who, for many reasons, are unable to undergo routine mammography. This test can provide a 'clinical marker' to the doctor or mammographer that a specific area of the breast needs particularly close examination.

It takes years for a tumor to grow thus the earliest possible indication of abnormality is needed to allow for the earliest possible treatment and intervention. DITI’s role in monitoring breast health is to help in early detection and monitoring of abnormal physiology.

Current Early Detection Guidelines

One day there may be a single method for the early detection of breast cancer. Until then, using a combination of methods will increase your chances of detecting cancer in an early stage. These methods include :

• Annual DITI screening for women of all ages.

• Mammography, when considered appropriate for women who are aged 50 or older.

• A regular breast examination by a health professional.

• Monthly breast self-examination.

• Personal awareness for changes in the breasts.

• Readiness to discuss quickly any such changes with a doctor.

These guidelines should be considered along with your background and medical history.

DITI’s role in breast cancer and other breast disorders is to help in early detection and monitoring of abnormal physiology and the establishment of risk factors for the development or existence of cancer.  When used with other procedures the best possible evaluation of breast health is made.

An extremely valuable test to help in the early detection of breast disease.

NeuroIntegration Therapy

   WHAT IS NEUROINTEGRATION THERAPY?

NeuroIntegration Therapy (NIT) is the groundbreaking approach to optimizing your brain's function, resolving neurological, psychological and physical challenges.

NIT is a powerful new method of biofeedback that swiftly and permanently trains the brain. By monitoring the electrical activity in the brain, NIT is able to enhance the ‘positive’ and inhibit ‘negative’ activity. This is achieved by a simple system of reward; all you have to do is relax and enjoy your favorite music or movie while your brain efficiently learns a better way to operate.

Often, areas of our brains are operating sub-optimally (either too fast or too slow). These patterns can easily become ingrained, affecting our perception and locking us into automatic and habitual patterns of behavior. This prevents us from accessing a full range of mental experience and, thus, negatively impacts our quality of life.

Fortunately, regardless of age, your brain is always capable of learning. NIT will help your mind work in a relaxed and efficient manner.

NIT training does not impose anything artificial on you or on your brain. It is helpful to think of NIT as a class specially tailored for your brain, unlocking the skills and capacities that were always a part of you.

JUST A FEW WAYS NIT CAN HELP

  • Peak performance
  • ADD/ADHD/Autism/PDD
  • Addictions
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Fibromyalgia/Chronic fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Memory loss

 CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is a light-touch approach that can create dramatic improvements in your life.  It releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance.  Few body structures have more influence over your health and well-being than your central nervous system.  Few body systems have more impact on your central nervous system than the CranioSacral system - the soft tissues and fluid that protect your brain and spinal cord.

Everyday you endure stresses and strains while your body absorbs them. Your body can only handle so much tension before the tissues begin to tighten and potentially affect the brain and spinal cord.  Unfortunately, this can compromise the function of the central nervous system and the performance of nearly every other system in your body.

CranioSacral Therapy releases those tensions to allow the entire body to relax and self-correct.  Using a gentle touch, starting with about the weight of a nickel, practitioners evaluate your internal environment.  Then they use distinctive light-touch techniques to release any restrictions they find.  By freeing the central nervous system to perform at its best, CranioSacral Therapy naturally eliminates pain and stress, strengthens your resistance to disease, and enhances your health and well-being.  Because it's so gentle, CranioSacral Therapy can be effective for all ages, from newborns to elders.

                                                 ASuRA Cranial

The highly specialized form of cranial therapy is designed for and may be beneficial for individuals recovering from stroke, neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, and those who have experienced any type of fall, accident, or traumatic brain injury.

ASuRA regulates both the structure and flow of glial cells in the brain.  These cells are non-neuronal cells that maintain homeostasis, form myelin and provide support for neurons in the brain and the peripheral nervous system.

ASuRA can assist with resolution of  astroglial scarring that occurs with trauma.  This in turn allows neural signaling to occur much more efficiently.  Imagine a dam in the middle of the river.  This prevents the river from flowing in much the same way that the scar prevents signaling in the brain.

Brain Mapping (Quantitative Electroencephalogram - QEEG)

What is a quantitative electroencephalogram (QEEG)?

Starting in the 1970s it became possible to store the EEG signals on computer media for later analysis.  As computers and electronic amplifiers became smaller and faster, and as mathematical methods developed, it has become possible to store 19 or more channels of EEG data on a laptop computer using an amplifier the size of hardback book.  Often the sensors are attached to the inner surface of a cloth or mesh cap.  The caps come in various sizes so that the sensors will be accurately placed on any size head.  The computer is capable of recognizing many more and subtle patterns among the brain waves in various locations than the eye can possibly see.  These patterns are then graphically displayed as colored brain maps, graphs, and charts.  Despite the impressive ability to detect subtle significant patterns, the raw EEG must always be analyzed by a trained eye in order to avoid misinterpretation or ambiguity in the QEEG.  A very special feature of modern QEEG is that all the data from a client's recording can be compared to several databases of 'normal' individuals brainwaves.  This makes it much easier to spot statistically significant deviations.  These deviations may or not be clinically significant.  It is important to consider them in light of any complaints or conditions the client might have in order to better appreciate their significance, if any.

How and why is QEEG used in Neurofeedback?

Much of the groundbreaking work in neurofeedback was done without the aid of QEEG.  Many practitioners still use protocols that are generally safe and provide the ability for most brains to develop flexibility and increased control.  There are, however, other types of neurofeedback protocols that aim to specifically increase or decrease certain frequencies at certain locations on the cortex (outer layer of the brain).  In these cases a QEEG can give valuable insight into which areas of the brain may need to be strengthened and which may need to be relaxed.  The QEEG can also tell how well each of the 19 measured areas of the cortex communicate with each of the 18 remaining sites.  These measures, which include such mathematical measures as 'coherence', 'comodulation', 'phase', etc., can also be compared to norms in a database.  These 'network' operations of the brain may be trained as easily as amplitude abnormalities.

 Acupuncture

What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture can be defined as the insertion of dry
needles into the skin at specific locations called acu
puncture points. Acupuncture is performed by certified practitioners and physicians to treat certain medical disorders.  Depending on the training and experience of the practitioner and the problem being treated, acupuncture techniques may include electrical current through the needles (electro acupuncture) or heat (moxibustion) and pressure (acupressure).  Acupuncture began in China more than 2000 years ago.  It is now practiced throughout the world, particularly in China, Korea and Japan.  In the United States, acupuncture started gaining popularity in the early 1970s.

How Does Acupuncture Work?
The basic idea behind acupuncture, according to ancient theory, is that energy flows within the human body and can be stimulated to create balance and health.  The energy flow (or vital force)— called qi and pronounced “chee”—moves throughout the body along 12 main channels known as meridians.  These meridians represent the major organs and functions of the body although they do not follow the exact pathways of nerves or blood flow.

The goal of acupuncture is to correct imbalances of flow and restore health through stimulation, generally by inserting needles through the skin at points along the meridians of the body.  Current acupuncture information lists up to 400 different acupuncture points for various health problems.

Scientists have attempted to explain the actual physical effects of acupuncture on the human body.  Some researchers suggest that pain relief happens when acupuncture needles stimulate nerves.  Another wellaccepted theory is that acupuncture releases pain-relieving chemicals, such as endorphins and serotonin.  Acupuncture may also be effective because it targets painful tender points, sometimes called trigger points.  Additionally, acupuncture may decrease pain-causing inflammation by stimulating the body’s pituitary gland to release cortisol, a hormone that is known to reduce inflammation.  Although the exact manner in which acupuncture works is unknown, the treatment appears helpful for certain medical illnesses in certain people at certain times.
